The Axarquia lies in the heart of Andalucia, to the east of Malaga, between the Mediterranean and the magnificent mountain ranges of the Sierra Tejeda & Almijara. Covering 1021 square kilometres this region is a world away from the intensive tourist development of the Costa del Sol coast. The sub tropical climate is perfect for walking holidays throughout the spring, autumn and winter when the inclement Northern European weather encourages us to stay indoors.

The highest mountain, La Maroma reaches an altitude of 2,080 metres and is snow capped in winter. In the spring the hillsides are covered in wild flowers and there are hoopoes, eagles and ibex in this beautiful wild landscape.
